How To Survive 4th Term

It’s that time of year again when senioritis seems to hit the whole school and affect more than just the seniors. One hint of warm weather and students seem to have lost all motivation for school work. Therefore, being a high school student is hard, but being a high school student in the spring time is even harder. To make it through the rest of the year, students offer advice on how to survive term four.

“I’m not a senior, so I’m just gonna tell myself that my GPA and grades still matter,” said Junior Tyler White.

But some students are much more motivated than others at this time of year.

“My plan to get through the last weeks of school is to let senioritis take over! I have three classes where I don’t do anything, and I also have an off-period. So to answer, I’ll do nothing,” said Senior Sean Santore.

Some students use their sports commitments to motivate them to keep up their term four grades.

Junior Ben Szalinski said he plans on enjoying baseball practice while Senior Trevor Fox said, “A big motivator for me is tennis. Because I am in season, I have to focus on school and can’t just sluff off.”

Senior Josh Payes said he plans on just lifting to get to the end of the year.

Other students are pushing through the end-of-an-era emotions in an attempt to finish the year strong.

Senior Melissa Tazioli said in order to get through the last of the school year, she plans on doing a little bit of crying and a lot of studying.

Tazioli won’t be alone in her tears.

“I plan on crying a lot to get through it,” said Senior Jasper Chang.

If you are one in the ‘Help! I am crying everyday’ category, then here are some tips students have suggested to help you make it through the year:

  • “Take everything step by step, and do not procrastinate. Finish hard!” ~ Sophomore Andrea Amador
  • “Don’t let the idea of summer coming soon get in the way of your school work. You should work even harder toward the end of the year and then enjoy summer once it actually comes.” ~ Sophomore Briana Ventrella
  • “Give it all you have. You’ve made it this far, so you might as well finish strong.” ~ Senior Rygar Carvajal
  • “Caffeine is your friend.” ~ Junior Katherine East
  • “Eat an entire cake before you do homework.” ~ Senior Diana Guliyeva
  • “Stay calm and have fun.” ~ Senior Bertha Garcia
  • “Have fun with friends and do well in school.” ~ Senior Kayla Norris
  • Just think, “It’s almost over.” ~ Senior Isac Banuelos
  • “Focus and work hard. You are so close to the finish! Summer (and graduation for seniors) is so close and well worth putting in hard work to finish the year strong.” ~ Senior Trevor Fox
  • “Think long term and how your grades can help you with things in the future, such as getting admitted to your favorite college.” ~ Junior Tyler White
  • “Don’t stress too much. Once everything starts getting checked off the list, time will fly.” ~ Senior Melissa Tazioli
  • “Just think about summer, having no school and being free.” ~ Junior Hannah Weiss

So as the 2015-16 school year comes to a close, there is still time to get your work done and have fun at the same time. Good luck to everyone with AP exams, finals and graduation. Summer is just around the corner.
