Mr. Mustang 2017 is just around the corner. The annual competition will take place on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. With 15 contestants and two emcees, this competition is the biggest one yet.  The competition will be the night before the winter dance, which has a theme of “An Evening in the Arctic.”  The Mustang composed profiles of each of the contestants, which are below.

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I’ve been to the past shows, and to see what it would be like to be a part of it.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“I like the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and be myself and not have to restrict myself.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“Rap battle.”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

“I am most excited about performing my act.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“My favorite part about high school was winning Homecoming King.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“I am going to miss the proximity to my friends.”

How would you describe your style?

“Concerning”

What does your favorite food say about you?

“Sushi because I act like I’m culturally diverse but I’m not.”

“What does your favorite ice cream flavor say about you?”

Pistachio because I like the color green.

What is your favorite pickup line?

“You must be Jamaican because you’re making me crazy.”

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“I want to be a robotics engineer because I find the potential of modern technology interesting.”

“Over-ambitious”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I wanted to push myself to do one last fun thing before I left high school.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“My favorite thing has to be the community we’ve (the guys) established as fellow contestants. Even though we’re competing against each other, were still close.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“I’m singing Little Do You Know with my friend Dannikah Ravara.

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

“I’m really excited for the talent portion, so I can see/hear everyone’s talents.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“My favorite part of senior year is probably getting acceptance letters from the colleges I want to go to.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“In all honesty, I’m going to miss my teachers and the many friends I’ve made along the way.”

How would you describe your style?

“If I see something that looks decent together, I’d wear it, otherwise I look like the grudge.”

What does your favorite food say about you?

“That I eat too much of it. In actuality, it says that I’m willing to try new things.”

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

“Cookies n Cream”

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“In future, I want to become a pharmaceutical doctor.”

What one word describes you?

“Hungry”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I’ve wanted to do it since freshman year because freshman year I had a senior friend do it who included me in his act and it was a lot of fun.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“I get to be part of something with a group of guys and it will never be exactly the same.”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

“All of the amazing talents.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“Getting ready for the next steps in life.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“I’ll miss my friends because they’re going to different schools.”

How would you describe your style?

“Whatever clothes are clean.”

What does your favorite food say about you?

“Mac and cheese…maybe it means I’m fat?”

“Accountant”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“When I heard I got voted in, it sounded like a good time.”

“I really like hanging with the guys, we have a good group this year.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“Me and Ryan Scott are doing a shadow dance.”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

“I’m really excited to see how the intro video comes out.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“My favorite part of senior year is trying to go to all the games for each team.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“I’ll miss seeing everyone everyday.”

“I decided to do it because it’s my senior year and a really fun experience.

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“My favorite part is the intro dance and talent portion.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“I’m doing a dancing mash up of throwback Disney songs.”

“I’m the most excited for the intro video and dance.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“My favorite part is being apart of so many great activities and getting to see where everyone is going next year.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“The people. My friends.”

How would you describe your style?

“Casual- trendy wannabe?”

What does your favorite ice cream flavor say about you?

“Espresso caramel chip- What I lack in energy, I make up by eating ice cream.”

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“Real Estate Developer because you make a lot of money.”

What are your plans for the future?

“Go to college- UCLA is my top.”

“Charismatic”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“It’s only the most popular event of the entire year! It seems like a very exciting and enjoyable experience.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“Just having fun hanging with the guys filming the videos and perfecting the talents, dances, and speeches that will be showcased the night of Mr. Mustang.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“Jake and I are doing a dancing routine to High School Musical and Hannah Montana songs.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“Everything is a little laid back now that all the college work is over but at the same time it stinks since high school is so fun and almost over.”

“The experiences from all the clubs and sports, the friends that have made the time so exciting, the kindness of the teachers, still being a kid.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

If you could date any celebrity who would you date and why?

“Giselle Bündchen. I’d ask how it’s like to have such a hated husband, plus she is Brazilian which sounds attractive.”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I did it because you can potentially get a free tux rental for prom.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“Showing people who I really am and that I’m a funny, outgoing guy and I’m not afraid to it myself out there even if it embarrasses me.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“Tape face from America’s Got Talent”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“ Figuring out where everyone is going to school because I think it’s really interesting to see where everyone’s futures are going.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“I’m going to miss the comforts of home and being close to home.”

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“Broadcast journalist because I’ve always been fascinated by how media disperses information.”

What are your plans for the future?

“Missouri, Iowa, or Kansas.”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I went to the one last year and it was an absolute blast to watch. The audience had fun and it looked like the contestants were enjoying themselves, It seemed like the type of thing that I would love to do if I was given the opportunity, and once I got in I wanted to try my best to get on stage and make a fool of myself.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“So far, I’ve been enjoying filming the introduction video that gets played that shows all of the emcees and contestants. I think it’ll be really fun and entertaining way to show off all of our personalities a little before were formally introduced. But If I’m honest, I’d be lying if I said i wasn’t excited to see people wear my face on pins that go on sale soon.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“I’m actually doing a talent with Brendan Callas. We’re doing a rap battle on stage with a little twist- instead of insulting each other, we insult ourselves.”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

“I am actually really excited to perform my act. It would one thing to do a solo talent, but being able to do it with my best friend of 8 years makes it even better.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“I really love the newfound appreciation you get for all of the people you surround yourself with. Because you know there’s a very high possibility that at the end of the year you might not ever see them again, at least when it comes to your high school friends. And because of this you take every moment with them to mean a little bit more, try to be with hem a little bit more often.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“I think the people. I’ve spent the past four years building all these relationships with everyone and once we throw our caps in the air and go separate ways, a lot of these relationships will just vanish. Even knowing you’re going to move on to a new part of your life, it’s not easy to just let go of all the people you know.”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I thought it would be an all around funny thing to do, I just wanted to have fun with it.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“My favorite thing is that I get to have pins made with my face on them. “

What are you doing for your talent?

For my talent, I’m singing and playing guitar to my own rendition of “American Pie.” which I’m calling “Mundelein High”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

’m most excited to see what all the other guys have put together.

What is your favorite part of senior year?

My favorite part of senior year is that I get to have a pretty stress free living. I’ve already been accepted to my schools and don’t have to worry about my ACT’s.

What will you miss the most about high school?

What I will miss most is probably being able to hang out with my closest friends every day.

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I chose to participate because my cousin was in when he went to Mundelein in 2004.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“My favorite thing is watching everyone perform their talents. You never realize what talents some of your classmates have until Mr. Mustang.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“I am an emcee!”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?
The thing I’m most excited for is the actual night and just making people laugh and have a good time.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“My favorite part of senior year is getting closer to people. It really hit me this year that we won’t be going to school with everyone so I like getting to know people I didn’t really talk to throughout high school.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“The thing i’ll miss the most is definitely seeing all my childhood friends everyday.”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I went to it last year and it looked like a blast. So I figured if I got nominated, I might as well try to do well.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“Planning everything for the night has been awesome. We just started recording the video and it was a ton of fun! Plus everyone is really nice and it’s just a great atmosphere.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“I’m doing a Richard Simmons imitation dance routine.”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

“Honestly, I’m so excited to have my face be on button/pin. Like just walking around seeing people have my face pinned to their backpack is going to be weird but amazing at the same time.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“So far, it’s mostly been the extra things that are senior exclusive like homecoming court. It’s just so much more enjoyable when everyone is involved in them are people you know.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“I’m probably going to miss my friends the most and quite a few of my teachers. It’s going to be weird not seeing them everyday when I’ve seen the same people for four years.”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I chose to participate in Mr. Mustang because in the past years, all the candidates were always having a lot of fun with it and it seemed like an amazing thing to be a part of, so when I was given the opportunity to participate in it, I couldn’t turn it down.”  

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“My favorite part of being in Mr. Mustang is definitely the bond you build with the other candidates. So far, being around all the guys has been a great time and everyone’s always laughing while dealing with the stress behind finalizing their act and planning their dances.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“We’re still deciding”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

“I’m excited for the day of Mr. Mustang to see all of our hard work come together and make a show and see one guy from the group of candidates win the crown.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“My senior year doesn’t even come close to the last 3 years. It’s been an amazing experience so far and just the amount of school spirit among the senior class has been amazing.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“The thing I will miss most about high school is the sense of community. The groups of students are so involved with the school that it feels like one giant community and the experiences have been amazing when the entire school is  participating in assemblies or the stands are filled with fans.”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I choose to participate in Mr. Mustang because I have been watching it since I was a freshman and have always been interested in doing it.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“I love being around a bunch of great people and having fun with the dancing and the talents.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“I’m doing shadow dancing through 2016.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“Being around all of my friends for one last time and really opening up and meeting new people.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“All of my best friends. I have a strong group of friends I’ve grown up with and to be the honest it’s [going to] be really hard to not be with them next year.”

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“I want to be a sports agent.”

What are your plans for the future?

“I am attending the University of Kansas.”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I have always enjoyed watching Mr. Mustang growing up and when I got the opportunity to be in it it was a no brainer.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“Being with my friends and having fun as part of such a cool event.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“I’m doing a dance/skit with Nick Oleinik and Chris Carlson.”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

“Going to football and hockey games, the Cubs parade and enjoying my last seasons as a high school athlete.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“Leaving my friends who I have been so close with since I was little and all the dances.”

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“Either a Sales Director or start my own business.”

What are your plans for the future?

“Play golf and major in economics or business management at Loyola-Chicago.”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I was nominated and I thought it would be a really fun thing to do and I didn’t want to waste the opportunity.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“I get to hang out with people I might not hang out with usually and do creative things.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“I’m going to be playing a classical piano piece.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“Knowing that this will be over soon.”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“Seeing my best friends every single day.”

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“A lawyer I think.”

What are your plans for the future?

“Hopefully Northwestern.”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“Because I helped Kevin Fung last year and I decided it would be really fun to do it my senior year.”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“I like making the intro video.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“I am dancing to Michael Jackson in a tribute to him.”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

My favorite thing is getting to see everyone’s talent and getting to see everyone’s hard work.

What is your favorite part of senior year?

Getting to know where everyone is going to college and all the school spirit we get to be a part of.

What will you miss the most about high school?

My tennis team because I love them to death and I love the energy and commitment they have.

“Chicken & Waffles”

“Are you McDonald’s french fries because I’m loving it.”

How would you describe your style?

“I have a little to none fashion sense.”

“I would best describe myself as sensitive.”

Why did you choose to participate in Mr. Mustang?

“I chose to participate in Mr. Mustang because it looked like a lot of fun. Ever since I saw it my freshman year I wanted to be apart of it, and so it’s really cool that I get to be a part of it this year!”

What is your favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang?

“My favorite thing about being in Mr. Mustang is the people. Since I do she choir, band, and theatre, I have very little time to talk to anyone outside of those activities. Being in Mr. Mustang allows me to get to know people better who aren’t in those activities.”

What are you doing for your talent?

“Since I am going to be majoring in Musical Theatre when I go to college, I decided to do a little musical theatre performance. It’s been a lot of fun to work on and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

What are you most excited for Mr. Mustang?

“I’m honestly just so excited to be able to perform in Mr. Mustang. Performing is my favorite thing to do, and this is unlike anything I’ve really done before.”

What is your favorite part of senior year?

“My favorite part of senior year is pretty much everything. Everything this year has been going really well and I’m having a lot of fun!”

What will you miss the most about high school?

“I’ll miss the people. I’ve made many good friends here in Mundelein and once I go off to college, I won’t get to see a lot of them for a long time. I’ll also really miss the teachers. I’ve learned a lot from every teacher I’ve had at this school and I can’t thank them enough for helping make me the person I am today.”
