With one successful season down there are two to go. We now enter the winter season containing bowling, cheer, dance, basketball, and more. With all of these sports kicking into gear there are going to be a lot of exciting times for students in sports and fans.
Dance team
“I am most looking forward to watching my athletes challenge themselves and reach not only their individual goals but also their goals as a team,” stated Dance Team Head Coach Maya Gold.
Cheer team
Head Coach Christina Newsom stated, “I most look forward to watching our athletes shine on the competition mat this season. It’s always fun to watch them perform and do what they love!”
Winter Guard
Winter Guard Head Coach Kiley Billock announced, “The winter guard has moved up to a new competition class this season. They will be competing in Scholastic AA in the MidWest Color Guard Circuit. Many new faces joined the guard this year, and I am thrilled to see the growth of the program over the last couple of years.”
Girls Bowling
Girls Bowling Coach Vanessa Prorok commented, “I am most excited for the season to see all of our new and returning players.” She is also looking forward to “our run for the NSC Championship and our postseason competition prospects.”
Wrestling
Wrestling Head Coach Craig Stocker stated, “Numerous wrestlers have dedicated themselves to the sport in the off-season. I am excited for those wrestlers to see their hard work pay off.”
Boys Swimming
“We lost a lot of high-level seniors,” said Swimming Head Coach Rahul Sethna, “but we are returning a lot of the athletes so we are looking forward to seeing how they can develop this year.” With seniors leaving there are now spots open to others on the team. Sethna added, “We will have to have athletes take on new roles from what they are used to.”
Boys Bowling
“We returned a handful of varsity bowlers from last year which is always a good start. We have some young guys coming up that could be contributors on the varsity level this year,” stated Boys Bowling Head Coach Chris Sweno. “If we bowl to our potential we have a good shot at winning a conference which we have never done before. Lastly, qualifying for state last year was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to the opportunity to do that again.”
Boys basketball
“I’m looking forward to being able to play with more experience and development,” said Head Coach Matthew Badgley. “The past couple of years we made a decision to concentrate on player development and we finally believe we are close with a larger group of players and friends that want to support each other on the basketball court.”
