This is a complex question. The short answer is my job title which is “Occupational Therapist” but it can be a challenging profession to describe. The “Occupational” part of my title refers to the jobs of daily life. OT’s can work in almost any setting (I’ve worked in people’s homes, in schools, in nursing homes, and even in prisons) and there are variations on what our impact can be depending on which setting. At MHS what that means is I help individuals develop their independence when performing everyday tasks in the educational environment and work with other staff to solve various issues that can impact that person’s independence. You could say that my job is to work myself out of a job. |

My favorite things are the people that I’ve met. They have made me feel very welcome and valued while at the same time being patient with me as I navigate a new work environment. |
I chose to work at MHS because Mrs. Hupp, the D120 OT who retired last year, successfully convinced me to apply to work in such a supportive and positive learning environment and I was attracted by the prospect of supporting the MHS and Transition Center programs. |

It’s made the transition into my first year much smoother. |
I chose to work at MHS because the school’s values really align with what I was looking for in a teaching environment. I love that I have the freedom to design engaging lessons that fit my students’ needs, and I’ve especially enjoyed working with freshmen as we start this new school year together. The strong support system here has also made a big difference in helping me feel confident and prepared. |

At MHS, all of the staff has made me feel so welcomed and supported through thick and thin.

From my first interview to my last, all of the representatives made me feel incredibly wanted as well as appreciated. I also love the ways that Mundelein strives to make sure students do not only have a positive experience inside the classroom, but also in extracurriculars too. It is emphasized for every student to find their “And” which I find to be an extremely important part of the high school experience. |

So far, my favorite thing about MHS is getting to know the students. Learning what their hobbies and interests are or just hearing any slice of life stories. |
Part of the reason I chose to work at MHS is because I recently moved from the south suburbs of Chicago to living around the area. The other part is that MHS reminded me of my own high school. It could be the colors for the schools are very similar or the energy of the student body is very reminiscent of my time at high school. |
