Due to construction, the Math Lab and the Lit Center have combined and relocated. Renamed the Academic Resource Center (ARC) in room B147, it’s the new one-stop shop for any academic assistance. So far, students are finding it useful for schoolwork and fun.
“Depending on the period, it can be really quiet and give me time to focus,” Sophomore Jazlyn Lopez-Ortiz said. Once a week, Lopez-Ortiz said she stops by the ARC to work. She says that if she has missing work to complete or is falling behind, the ARC is the first place she goes.
However, you don’t need to finish your assignments when you’re in the ARC. Senior Karina Novello said, “It gives me a place to do homework but also hang out with my friends.” There are multiple tables and spaces in the ARC, ensuring a spot for everyone. Novello stated she goes every day, and thinks “it’s a good joint place for collaboration.”
Novello also said having the Math Lab and Lit Center is “convenient.” “Before, if I needed help with both subjects, I’d have to go down to the B wing and then go all the way up to the media center,” Novello explained, “but it’s a lot easier now.”
The ARC is right by the lunchroom in the B wing, making it an accessible place for students to go for help during their lunch period. It’s open Monday through Friday from 7 p.m.-3:25 p.m.
