In the weeks leading up to Cocaine Bear’s release on Feb. 24 many on social media jokingly called for a “Cocaine Bear Sweep.” That being that the absurd film would sweep the box offices. MHS’s Model UN team at the MUNUC conference in Chicago. This was the first one to be held in person since the Covid-19 Pandemic. Jesse Piland, social studies teacher and an adviser on the club described the experience during the pandemic “It was very difficult to sustain. Most diplomacy happens face-to-face. Throughout the Chicagoland area, organizations have been flying the Ukrainian flag below the American flag. Globally and online, people have been displaying the blue and yellow colors of the Ukrainian flag to show support for this country during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Anastasiya Bakun, a college student at the University of Illinois in Chicago with Ukrainian heritage, commented on the national anthem of the country. “If you translate our national anthem, it will give you chills,” she said. For example, the opening line of the anthem states, “Ukraine is not yet dead, nor is glory, nor is freedom.” Another line in the anthem states, “Like the few before the sun, our enemies will fade.”

Released on Disney+ on Sept. 22, “Star Wars: Visions” is a nine-eposide anime series loosely covering aspects of the Star Wars Universe. About the show, Emanuel Cortes, senior, said, “I said to myself, ‘Oh no, I really don’t like this, and I don’t think I will.’ But once I saw the show and saw all the cool animations that anime does, and I’m thinking, ‘Wow, am I missing all of this?’-- but not just in Star Wars, but on other anime shows. This changed my perspective on anime. I have more respect toward it, and I think people should think the same.”
