New Club “Help One” Aims to Help Those in Need
September 20, 2022
With the dawn of the new school year comes new clubs, sports, and activities. One of the new clubs this year is Help One, founded by Natalie Carrera, junior, and sponsored by English teacher Ernie Billittier.
“It’s [Help One] a club dedicated to helping those in need in our Mundelein community as well as [the] homeless around Lake County and all around us.” stated Carrera, club president.
As Help One is a brand new club they have no money from the school, to raise money they sold t-shirts at the Homecoming game.
“I would say it’s been a pretty good experience, we’ve been very successful…it’s a lot of fun too because all of our friends are in it and we have fun bringing joy to the community and helping everyone and I’m looking forward to more meetings and volunteering events.” said Nicole Casino, vice president.
Volunteering is a major part of Help One, with a variety of options going to be available for members of the club.
“So we want to do volunteering, we’re actually having our first essentials drive this Friday, September 9th, so we want to do drives like that as well as volunteer opportunities, such as Lake County Haven, we may be able to volunteer, PADS possibly, fundraisers such as t-shirts that proceeds would go to Help One.” said Carrera
Carrera also hopes for many new devoted members to join.
“We want as many people to join as possible, and we want people to just be fully into it, and volunteer as much as they can, it doesn’t have to be every time, but just all the help we can get would be greatly appreciated and hopefully a lot of people join.”
