ESL students take on pumpkin carving

Lia Koski and Hannah Roberts

On Oct. 28, Autumn Graef’s ESL Academic Support class carved pumpkins during second period. For many of these students, this is their first Halloween here in the United States. Halloween is a unique holiday, and the students participated by carving creative faces into their pumpkins. Freshman Christopher Garcia told how it was his first time carving pumpkins, and that he really liked it. Another freshman, Bolorzaya Sangombo, also enjoyed carving pumpkins for the first time. However, she described the process as “smelly.”
