With Halloween right around the corner, there are many frightening movies and TV series coming out this month for Halloween. What are people’s thoughts on them?
“Tron: Ares seems like an actually interesting movie,” Freshman Aaron Fuksman said. Tron is a series of films produced by Walt Disney Pictures about entering a digital realm and fighting off threats within it. It is currently available exclusively in theatres.
“[I’m excited for] Casper: 30th Anniversary because he is my friendly ghost, so I’m excited to see that one,” Freshman Landon Van Arsdale said. The Casper cartoons are about the adventures of a ghost named Casper. It is found exclusively in theaters.
Wellness teacher Alix McArthur commented that she’s most excited for Casper: 30th Anniversary simply because she has never heard of any of the other shows and movies.
Sophomore Gwendolyn Martinez said that she’s excited about Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy. “I’m interested in true crime. It’s a bad story, but it’s really interesting.” John Wayne Gacy, an infamous serial killer, terrorized the neighborhood of Norwood Park in Chicago, Illinois in the early to late 1970’s. It is streaming on Peacock.
Rocco Mendicino, freshman, said that he enjoyed Black Phone 2. “It’s one of the few movies where the protagonists beat up the main killer.” The Black Phone movies follow Finnley Blake and his encounter with the Grabber, an evil masked murderer who kidnaps people and kills them. It can be found in theatres.
Which would fare the best commercially speaking, though?
“Realistically, Black Phone 2 is probably going to be the best since Black Phone is such a success,” Fuksman said. Many other people agree with this sentiment, with Van Arsdale attributing it to the original The Black Phone’s box office success of $161 million.
“The Black Phone was really interesting and people would want to see more of it,” Martinex said.
“I think Devil In Disguise: John Wayne Gacy will do the best,” McArthur said. She further explained that she believes it is the most interesting show out of the major ones that came out this October.
People are all excited about these films, whether it be excitement for sequels to classics like Tron: Ares, horror films like Black Phone 2, or kid-friendly classics like Casper: 30th Anniversary, everyone has something fun and exciting to watch this October.
