On October 10th the student section of the football stadium was packed, and kids were everywhere participating in the Mundelein High School Community Night.
Whether it was the Stallions football team taking the field with Mundelein football, or the Stallions cheerleaders learning from Mundelein cheerleaders on how to support the Mustangs, Community Night brought together teams from all over Mundelein and provided them an opportunity to connect with the high school. The Fremont and Carl Sandburg bands also joined the MHS band in the pregame show and worked with band members during the game.
Ava Erickson, a member of the MHS Dance Team said, “It was really fun because I felt like a role model to all the younger kids who will hopefully be a part of the program [in the future].”
Dance Team Member Anna Hulls said she enjoyed community night. “I try to give the kids the full experience of a high school football game on the sideline dancing.”
Mundelein High School Assistant Athletic Director Joe Scheuers said, “Community Night is one of our favorite events of the year because it genuinely celebrates the connection between Mundelein High School and our community.”
Mundelein hosts Community Night to show appreciation for the families, youth and feeder programs of Mundelein. Scheuers said, “The setup typically includes inviting community groups, youth/feeder teams, and local partners to take part in pregame activities and be part of the gameday atmosphere. It’s a great way to bring everyone together, build school spirit, and highlight the pride we all share in being part of Mundelein.”
Community night for Mundelein brings everyone together and allows for Mundelein to work together to help the youth be a part of many high school events.
