Review: WandaVision

Rylan Foster, Staff Reporter

Only nine episodes were created for “WandaVision” on the streaming service Disney+, so how good could it be? But, before I knew it, I was waking up early on Friday mornings dying to see the next! And, it only took three episodes to hook me.

The first episode came out on Jan. 15 with the finale released on March 5, which meant that there was a new episode every week. Now all the episodes are available for viewing on Disney+, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have any extra background on Wanda’s past life along with what Vision and Wanda’s life together could have been like.

“WandaVison,” then, is meant to be a continuation and subplot that takes place three or four weeks after Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame” movie. And, given the success and interest in the Avengers, there was much anticipation around this short series and for good reason.

Marvel has said that viewers do NOT have to watch any of the series they have created to enjoy this series just in case a viewer might be hesitant to watch for that reason. That said, though, I would still recommend watching them because it would help clear up any confusion one might have about some of the characters and their storylines.

It’s also worth noting the first two episodes were fairly slow at first, but don’t give up on the series because of that! I don’t say this just because I love Wanda Maximoff. I say this because the storyline is just starting to unfold into a plot not to be missed as each episode is set in a different time period, with it starting in the 50s and ending in present time (2023).

Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are the two main characters in the series, and the two actors have been seen in multiple “Avenger” movies together with their first Marvel movie being “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

The show helps Marvel fans dig deeper into understanding Wanda and what she has had to go through in the past to evolve into the person she is now. Alongside that, Wanda also starts to learn additional information about her past as well as information about her powers with the help of someone she thought she could trust.

After learning so much about Wanda’s previous life and how she gained her powers, everything starts to come together for fans.

Throughout the series, make sure to watch for small hints that the show gives as to what is going to happen to Wanda in the future or what Wanda has gone through in the past. So many questions are answered, and the finale leads to something major that will happen in Wanda’s life, so have fun bingeing this show soon.
